Advertising

Advertising is a means of promoting a product/brand/service to a target audience by the help of paid media such as TV, Radio, the Internet and print media. Advertising campaigns often include themes that blend a companys branding and services as well as specific product information into an interesting to watch concept. The media for advertising are selected on the basis of market research analysis that identifies the most media to reach the target audience. Advertisers then purchase ad space in the right spots in order to achieve the greatest success for a client.

PR

Although PR falls under the marketing umbrella only, it can be further diversified into media relations, crisis management and more. PR earns media attention whereas advertising buys media exposure.

PR is all about building trustworthy positive relationships with the public; This is accomplished through media coverage, i.e. interviews in newspapers, radio or a TV release. PR professionals work in sync with marketers for integrated communications.

Small to medium-scale outfits that have a limited advertising budget can utilize PR strategy as an free platform to establish the positive image. Successful PR campaigns highlight the companys achievements in a social spotlight.

Public relations, advertising and marketing all use strong communication skills to convey their message. Application of psychology and human behavior to attract consumers is the procedure for all of them. These fields pose the greatest creative challenges, idea generation as well as analytical thinking skills to prosper.

With the emergence of integrated communications approach, these divisions have integrated their approach to amplify the combined effect on the sales and brand-building.
