subject: Different Methods For Performing The Ms Sql Repair [print this page]

Innumerable are the factors which corrupt & damage the SQL server database. There are several methods for performing the MS SQL Repair. But each Repair SQL Server method is having its own limitation and advantage. Let"s discuss these methods to repair SQL 2005 repair SQL 2000, SQL 2008 and SQL 2008 R2 versions.

The FC (Failover Clustering)

Failover Clustering or FC is a systematic process of developing clusters in case of hardware or software failure. By referring to this method a user can generate clusters for single or multiple instances. The Failover Clustering is an ideal solution for recovering the lost files lost because of system or hard disk failure. The various platforms which support the Failover Clustering are NT 4.0, 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000 Datacenter Server Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2003 and Datacenter Edition.

The disadvantages of Failover Clustering method

This is a very costly repair method and it only works on the servers which are in straight line. It also doesn"t retrieves the data lost because of disk array failure. The Failover clustering method doesn"t create clusters at the database object level.

DM (Database Mirroring)

Database Mirroring is an ideal recovery method for full recovery model databases. This process is not available for simple database models.

The disadvantages of Database Mirroring (DM)

The DM method works only on those databases which have been interlinked with the principal database. The Technical Managers refuse to use Database Mirroring because of the security concerns during content exchange.

The Peer-to-Peer Transactional Replication method

Peer-to-Peer Transactional Replication is a good recovery alternative for those applications which can read and edit the SQL database. The Peer to Peer method is a good fit for the databases which are not depending upon the server hosting.

The disadvantages of Peer-to-peer transactional replication cannot repair SQL 2000

This method is best suited to repair SQL 2005. The SQL database which needs to be recovered with this method should have a common schema, read more

The Warm Standby Server

The recovery through Warm Standby Server can be further divided into two methods: The Log Shipping and Transactional Replication.

The Log Shipping is a MS SQL Repair method for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition.

Transactional Replication is a method to repair SQL Server replicating the data from server (the publisher) to other server with less latency.

Drawbacks of Log shipping and Transactional Replication method

The improper use of Log Shipping method can damage the SQL database.

Moreover, it is not possible to restore the table changes for automatic failover of applications.

The users prefer the Restore Transaction method besides Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connection in Transactional Replication method.

RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks)

The RAID method stores the damaged data on multiple disks.

The disadvantages of RAID method

It is very difficult to use the RAID method. This method also fails to restore the data because of multiple disk failures.

All these methods for MS SQL Repair have their own limitations. One flawless method to Repair SQL Server is Kernel for SQL Recovery. It has been made to repair SQL 2005, SQL 2000, SQL 2008 and SQL 2008 R2 versions.
