subject: Russia: Bringing Our Civilization, Chinese Businessmen Should Not Be Worried About [print this page]

The Chinese experts support Putins opinion that China does not pose a threat to Russia's economy. Russia Prime Minister Vladimir Putin recently pointed out in an article entitled Russia and the Changing World that Chinas economic growth was not a threat to Russia; Russia should take advantage of China's economic development potential to develop Siberia and the far East. He said Russias sail of the economy should take China Development wind. His view is supported by local government, businessmen and experts.

An an economist in new Siberia said, the idea of building a mutually beneficial relationship with China is entirely correct and the Russian people should not forget that their fate depended on the buyers of their products. China is one of the largest buyers of the raw materials and energy. The faster China's economy develops, the more favorable it is to Russia. At the same time, China is a major military power. Therefore, to guarantee peaceful coexistence on the basis of consultations between the two sides is much better than to stimulate each other.

In his view, China is ready to do everything possible to develop relationships between China and Russia, therefore Russia should remain friendly to China, never always bearing "China threat" in mind, particularly on the immigration issue. Any migration flow can be resolved through strict legislation and bilateral consultations. Russia should open arms to China as none of the resource-rich countries can totally develop energy by itself. To get rid of the current troubles, we should devote major efforts to developing economy of Siberia and the Far East.

Actually no nation has the ability to develop Siberia alone and even the largest economies fail to do. When cooperating with China, Russia can gradually develop local infrastructure with the common forces and realize the large-scale plans to exploit local resources. China is interested in this area, so it would be the biggest investor.

The natural resources in Siberia and the Far East are attractive to China. Whoever puts more reasonable conditions and provides specific investment project would win. At present, China and Russia are strengthening cooperation in various fields, and bilateral contacts have been further deepened. The Russians don't need to worry about the entry of Chinese businessmen as they will contribute to local economic development.

Russian Altai State Technical University, Professor ALAkenijia, said: "Cooperation with China was a condition for guaranteeing our security. Even if we do not cooperate with China, there will still be a large number of goods entering the Russian market from China, letting us businesses lose its competitive edge. If we find cooperation deal with China, we are likely to win.
