subject: What You Say Is What You Get [print this page]

There a number of great mental tools that when applied consistently over time will assist you in the achievement of any goal or objective and make you truly unstoppable. Affirmations are one of such tools. Affirmations or assertions are sentences or statements that we repeat to ourselves so often (either aloud or in our minds) that they eventually form part of our mental construct. We all make use of affirmations and oftentimes we are completely unaware of this fact.

Have you ever noticed how someone who consistently repeats business is slow whenever you ask them how business is, always seem to struggle business wise? The mind is a strange thing, repeat a statement to yourself enough and it will eventually become a belief, which will affect your behaviour to the extent that the statement manifests itself and becomes reality. Simple.

What happens physiologically is that this constant repetition of a statement or constant focus on a particular belief (positive or negative) creates neural pathways in the brain until eventually the subconscious mind accepts this statement or belief as true. The subconscious mind then sets to wok to influence our behaviour and mannerisms in such a way that the belief eventually becomes reality. This is the power of affirmations what you say becomes what you believe which becomes reality.

Using affirmations in a positive sense can be an incredibly powerful tool for achieving success. Instead of always saying Im broke, begin saying I constantly attract wealth. Instead of saying I dont have what it takes begin saying I am confident and I have what it takes to succeed. Instead of always focusing on ill health begin to tell yourself that you are in great shape and that you deserve good health. Repeat these positive statements as often times as you can in a day.

The reason for this is that if you do not form the habit of constantly loading your mind with positive affirmations, youll be amazed at how quickly the negative self-limiting thoughts creep in and youre back to square one before you know it. Highly successful people allow positive thoughts and affirmations to permeate their minds daily.

Yes, the odd negative thought will creep in but they IMMEDIATELY substitute this negative thought with its positive counterpart until it becomes part of who they are.
