subject: The Drive To Suceed [print this page]

Those who have not truly grasped what it takes to succeed are those who complain incessantly about their circumstances and how unfair life is and do nothing; they allow their lives to be directed by other people and external circumstances, they believe that they are unlucky, they are afraid of pursuing their dreams and come up with many creative excuses as to why it is impossible, while they may not openly admit it they are afraid of the two words that will get them to their destination of success hard work.

What they fail to understand however is that the harder you work, the luckier you become and the more opportunities seem to open up. The harder you work towards achieving your dreams, the more you become in control of your life and destiny and the less your life becomes directed by external circumstances and people. The more consistent effort you apply towards achieving your goal, the quicker to rise up from your temporary hurdles and the quicker things appear to fall into place.

You cannot afford not to put in the hours. Part of the process of achieving your goal is putting together a strategy or plan. An important step in this strategy or plan is understanding the sacrifices that you will have to make and for your goal.

Understanding the price that you will have to pay for your goal translates into the amount of effort you will have to put in and this is why this strategy step is so important. By skipping this strategy step and romanticising the concept of the goal in your mind, for instance, how nice it would be to live in a luxury home, the goal does not become concrete enough and you fail to appreciate what you would truly need to do and how much work would be needed, before you can afford a luxury home. Life is too short and there are many things for you to do. You have so many hours to achieve what you need to achieve in life and the sooner you get going the better for you.

Most people that I know of that have achieved some level of success in their lives didnt just stumble onto it by accident (myself included). They sometimes had to work hard consistently for years while experiencing numerous failures in between (myself included) before achieving their dreams.

However, during the journey, the vision of achieving their goal far outweighed their temporary setbacks and challenges. This kept them motivated and they kept slugging away at it until their dreams were achieved.
