subject: Do You Truly Hunger For Success [print this page] Successful people come from all walks of life and background, however if there is a singular quality they all share, it is resilience. Resilience is simply the ability to stay the course and remain steadfast in your quest to achieve your goal, in the face of challenges and setbacks.
The only difference between those who become successful and those who do not, is simply that who become successful want it more. Furthermore. If someone wants something more than you do, they will be willing to sacrifice more than you, work harder than you, go further than you, take more risks than you, put in more hours than you, they will be willing to take more knocks than you and get back up every time. You have to become that person.
The fact is that many of us really believe in our own minds that we can get away with doing the bare minimum and somehow in some magical way, the life of our dreams will manifest before us. We see those living glamorous lives, driving exotic cars and living in mansions and wish the same for ourselves. However that is where is stops. We seldom take the time to wonder just how much some of those people had to make to get to where they were. We seldom take the time to appreciate the fact that some of these people started businesses right from scratch with little or no money and with all the against them; yet they refused to back down and kept hammering away until they achieved their dreams.
They worked long hours for many years, getting up early sleeping late and persisted at making their vision a reality. They remained resilient. They fortified themselves mentally and believed that failure was not an option. They believed that no challenge was colossal enough to deter them off their path. They remained focused on their singular vision, cultivated the flexibility to change their approach were necessary but never lost sight of the end game.
They had a plan on how they would become successful, what they would do and fully understood the sacrifices they would have to make to get there. They visualised success constantly even in the face of seeming defeat.
They affirmed their success constantly until it became hardwired in their minds and their brains had no choice but obey and constantly find solutions to their challenges. Bare minimum effort would not suffice. To achieve the extraordinary they had to become extraordinary; and they worked at this constantly until they did. Now, this is a diametrically opposed mindset to the individual who wishes to have a luxury mansion one day but has no clue of how she or he is going to get there. You will never live in a R20 million mansion with a R100, 000 effort. You will never drive a R2 million exotic car with R20,000 effort.
You will never own a multi-million rand business with a get-by attitude. You will never build a business empire unless you have the equivalent hunger and drive necessary to make it a reality. Like everything in life, the outcomes we get are directly proportional to our efforts. No more, no less.
