CSM Todd MCSM Todd M. Burnett, a veteran of the war in Iraq and the highest ranked enlisted soldier stationed at West Point, will be speaking to the West Point Society of Tallahassee this Friday at FSU's University Center Club.

The West Point Society of Tallahassee is excited to announce that the Command Sergeant Major of West Point, Todd Burnett, will be the featured speaker at the 2012 celebration of Founder's Day of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Friday evening is the 210th anniversary of the day that President Thomas Jefferson signed West Point into being. To help commemorate this significant event, the Boys Choir of Tallahassee (lead by Dr. Earle Lee) will be in attendance to perform the Alma Mater of West Point, something prepared especially for this occasion.

Additionally, local renowned artist and sculptor, Michael Jernigan, will bring the first bronze sculpture in a series of 22 he is doing as part of his current work, "Honoring The Troops."

This year's featured speaker, CSM Burnett, currently serves in the role of Command Sergeant Major, US Corps of Cadets, United States Military Academy at West Point.

CSM Burnett entered active service in February of 1986 after receiving one station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a combat Engineer. His stateside assignments include Fort Campbell, KY; Fort Bragg, NC (four tours); Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Fort Bliss, TX; and Fort Lewis, WA. CSM Burnett's overseas tours include Germany (two tours), Bosnia (two tours), Korea, South West Asia and Iraq.

CSM Burnett's military education includes all courses in the Noncommissioned Officers Education System. Additionally, CSM Burnett has completed the First Sergeant's Course, Drill Sergeant School, Ranger School, Jump School, Air Assault School, and Jumpmaster School.

CSM Burnett has served in positions that include: Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Brigade Command Sergeant Major of the 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat Airborne), and Command Sergeant Major of the Joint IED Defeat Organization. He is currently assigned as the United States Military Academy Corps of Cadets Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Burnett's awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (with V device), Bronze Star Medal (3rd award), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (7th award), Army Commendation Medal (with V device), Army Commendation Medal (12th award), Army Achievement Medal (6th award), Good Conduct Medal (8th award), NATO Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, Liberation of Kuwait Medal, Outstanding Military Service Volunteer Medal, South West Asia Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal x 2, Armed Forces Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (6th award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Level 4), Army Superior Unit Award (2nd award), Meritorious Unit Citation (3rd award), Drill Sergeant Badge, Master Parachutist Wings, Ranger Tab, Air Assault Badge, German Jump Wings, Honduran Jump Wings, Canadian Jump Wings, Combat Action Badge, Bronze Order of the De Fleury Medal, Silver Order of the De Fleury Medal, and the Sturgis Medal.

CSM Burnett is a graduate of Class 54 from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management from Excelsior College.
