subject: Slushie And Daquiri Machines For Parties [print this page]

Parties without cold beverages will be literally and figuratively 'dry.' It does not matter if it is a formal corporate-type party or an informal get-together party of friends. Cold beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, will always be essential. Of course, beers and carbonated drinks can always be served. However, cocktail drinks will add more excitement and sophistication in the party. Mixing and refilling different types of cocktail drinks require skills and knowledge. When it comes to large cocktail parties, these tasks are more appropriately delegated to professional bartenders.

Party hosts should not be overburdened with bartending tasks and the guests should be given a wide variety of choices. All of these can be made simple and convenient with the help of slushie or daiquiri machines. These machines may vary in brand names and capacity but they all have the same basic operating principles.

These machines are basically refrigeration and mixing machines. The temperature is precisely controlled so that the complete freezing of the cocktail is prevented. Large ice crystals are also prevented from being formed by continually rotating mixers. Some slushie machines also have built-in thermostat that automatically shuts down the freezer when the temperature falls to specific levels. Ideally slushie mixtures are dispensed at minus three degrees Celcius.

Although water normally freezes solid at this point, the continuous mixing and the presence of sugar prevents it from completely freezing into large blocks of ice. The sugar acts as anti-freeze that impedes the bonding of small ice crystals into large chunks. However, the sugar should be mixed at a precise range of between12% and 22% by weight. Too much or too little sugar will result in spoiling the mixture, producing a slush mixture that is either hard frozen or too sweet. Similar principles apply to daiquiri machines. The only big difference is the presence of alcohol in the mixture.

Slushie or Daquiri machines can make the tasks of mixing and dispensing frozen beverages much simpler and convenient. These machines are expensive and may not be very practical to own, not unless intended for commercial purposes. A good option is to find a company that offers these machines on rental or lease basis. Some companies also provide the basic ingredients for the slushie mixtures. On the other hand, they can also be secured on rent-to-own basis. Some are available in smaller and more affordable designs that are ideal for home use.
