subject: Removing Mold From Your Bathroom [print this page]

When it comes to one of the most common problems in the bathroom you have to first start talking about mold buildups. In my own shower along the outsides I have mold and at my parents home they are dealing with the same thing. Mold is caused by wetness that doesn't try and can commonly be found in the shower as there is a lot of water and all areas might not dry well due to the higher humidity levels and the fact that the area doesn't always get the chance to dry out properly. If a lot of people use the bathroom or if there's no vent fan running when a person is using the shower and it's much more likely that dampness will accumulate and can cause water damage to your home. Here are some quick tips to help you try to remove mold from your bathroom.

First things is determining how much mold you really have. Once you figure out how much mold you have in your bathroom you can determine which cleaning tactic will work best. If you only have small areas of mold you can clean it up with soap and water solution and a sponge. Make sure to clean the area thoroughly and get all the infestation. It doesn't take much for mold to return, and even a few spores can start it growing again. If the area isn't wet when you start to clean it, the spores can get into the air and spread throughout the house. Make sure to dampen the area if the mold is dry. You can also use bleach when cleaning, but make sure you are extremely careful what surfaces you use it on as bleach could damage certain materials

When you have finished removing the mold, make sure you rinse the area thoroughly and make sure it dries completely. You may use a fan or a hair dryer to give yourself some peace of mind. By doing this there will be less of a risk that more mold will build up again. Mold grows quickly, so keep an eye on the area you cleaned for a few days and see if you notice the mold coming back. If you do, it might be time to call in a professional.

These are some simple steps you can follow to help remove mold from your bathroom. The thing to remember about mold is that it can quickly grow and if you don't try to control it it can infest your entire bathroom.
