Starting education at any point in your life can be extremely daunting, but by understanding how to study more effectively, this will boost your confidence and see significant improvement in your work.

1. Dont leave it until the last minute

Make a record of your deadlines, and work out the time you have from that point. Try and allocate a certain point in the day, mid-morning is often a good time as you wont be feeling as sluggish. Break your work down into bite size sections. This could be word counts for example. Try and aim to write those words each day you have allocated time to work. Ensure you allow time at the end of your schedule for editing purposes though.

2. Know your topic

Research is an essential point of getting top marks for your work. Allow time to read up on your area and digest that information before coming back to it. This will make you more confident in knowing your subject and ensure you improve the outcome of your work.

3. Rest and take regular breaks

Dont try and cram everything into one day. If your using a computer, ensure to have breaks every 2-3 hours minimum. Keep yourself hydrated with water and make sure you are in a comfortable position at your desk.

4. Take notes

A good idea to aid your work or assignments is to take regular notes and keep them handy. But the best form of note taking is to put them to one side immediately afterwards, then go back to them a few hours later and try and jot down as much as you can remember without referring to your notes. This is a good method of retaining information.

5. Be critical

Its a good idea to get a friend or family member to help you by reading over your work. Take any criticism constructively and use their opinions to improve your work or memory.
