Usually doctoral students usually find it difficult to either choose qualitative or quantitative research method for their dissertation. There are few things that a researcher needs to keep in mind before choosing a particular method.

Students find it frustrating to write one of the most important chapters of the dissertation i.e., the method. There are 4 basic components of the research method that needs to be kept in mind before writing this section

1.Participants/Sample:

Write about the targeted population of your dissertation. At this step, the researcher needs to tell all the details of its sample, like age, marital status, gender, socioeconomic, status, medical health and other important issues. Also discuss the standard, the median, the frequency, the range and demographic values of your dissertation topic.

2.Instruments:

Give a description of all the elements and instruments that were used to measure your hypothesis. Include quantities like number of questions asked, scores and the readability of your approach. You also need to explain the reliability and validity of your instruments. Give a clear-cut detail of all those things that were used to measure your study.

3.Procedure:

In this step, the research needs to explain the methodology of data collection. In this, you describe the way that you had used to contact your sample and other sources of data.

The foremost thing that one needs to consider while choosing a methodology is the theoretical goal of your study. If the topic area of yours is novel then it is imperative to use exploratory methods for dissertation. It is a qualitative approach in which interviews or analysis on the archived data can be conducted.

4.Data Analysis:

Give a brief overview of the standard for analyzing data. This step includes description of the relationship between the two variables: the dependant and the independent. It also explains the degree of variance and the margin of error to give a clearer view of the statistical procedure used for data analysis.

Writing a dissertation research method is a kind of puzzle in which you arrange all the sections to complete the picture. Writing the research method is not a difficult task, as the researcher only needs to follow an organized path of subsections to complete the process.

Keeping in mind the above discussed subsections, the researcher will be able to produce a research method that includes all the important information required.
