Having that perfect smile not only requires a properly aligned set of teeth, having a stain free sparkling white teeth will complete the package. Cosmetic dentistry offers different dental procedures to remove stain and whiten teeth. Nature also provides ways to achieve white teeth.

First and foremost, brush and floss your teeth. This will prevent plaque and tartar build up.

Visit the dentist and have the teeth clean once or twice a year. Some tartar or stain may not be removed through regular brushing. Dentists can help the teeth be thoroughly cleaned. A regular visit would ensure of having less problems with stains or discoloured teeth.

Try natural whitening products. Eat strawberries or make a paste out of them by mashing them. Then cover the teeth with the mashed strawberries. Leave for five minutes and rinse afterwards. Orange peel also has whitening properties. Rub the inside of the orange peel on your teeth and rinse afterwards. Baking soda mix with a little salt is also an effective and cheap whitening product. Rinse after applying.

Having a diet with more veggies and fruits will give less cavity problems. Also, drink a lot of water and rinse, if brushing cannot be done, the mouth after every meal to make sure no food particles are left in the mouth.

Avoid mouthwashes with alcohol. They may discolour the teeth.

Cut down, better yet quit, smoking. It stains the teeth.

Watch for drinks that cause stain or discoloration like coffee, tea, colas, and wine. Sip water in between cup of tea or coffee and rinse the mouth after drinking such beverage.

The natural color of our teeth is actually off-white but some desired to have it pearly white. If natural procedures are not satisfying enough, one may opt for dental treatments through cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic dentistry offers polishing for removing stain, laser whitening which uses light-activated bleaching gel, and even at home whitening procedures through teeth whitening trays.

However, not all people are suitable for whitening procedures. Peolple with gum problems, for example, may not be allowed to undergo any of the whitening procedure. One can always go for natural ways to whiten the teeth if it cannot be done the cosmetic dentistry way.
