subject: La Live: Entertainment You Can Trust [print this page] If you're in the middle of downtown Los Angeles, you can't help but to see the gigantic LA Live complex in the middle of the heart of the entertainment industry. The complex is comprised of several different buildings and several different companies are in charge of what goes on inside of them.
It's hard to imagine the effort that was put into building it, but it cost 2.5 billion dollars and the project was started in 2005. In 2007, the first phase was complete, and it consisted of the Nokia Theatre and some other small parts. Since then, it has expanded greatly with the need of more space for further value in the area.
About 7,000 people fit in the Nokia Theatre, and that is where the ESPY awards have been hosted for the past four years. The initial scheduled event at the location was actually a concert that the Dixie Chicks and Eagles played at. Other notable events have been the American Music Awards.
The Grammy Museum opened in December of 2008 for the Grammys 50th anniversary, and it is made up of four floors of musical artifacts that show the history of the establishment. One exhibit that has been there was the John Lennon Songwriter exhibit, which was very popular at the time.
The ESPN broadcasting studios were built in one of the later stages because ESPN wanted to start doing a better job of covering West Coast sports. It makes sense when you think about it because of the time difference. One of the SportsCenter editions started being broadcasts from on site in 2009, after all of the organization was complete.
The Regal Entertainment Group has a series of movie theaters housed inside as well, including a super exclusive atrium' for particularly fancy premieres. There are 14 screens and they have 4,000 seats ready for those occasions when people want to see movies in the middle of where movies are made. This is next-level entertainment, and Regal is currently the largest theater chain in the United States.
There are several hotels, residences, and restaurants in the complex as well. There is a JW Marriot hotel and a Ritz-Carlton hotel in one of the skyscrapers. And for the hungry, there are Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Katsuya, Lawry's, Rosa Mexicano, Wolfgang Puck, and several other exceptionally fine dining establishments. Whatever you are looking for, you can find there.
Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, and LA Live is at the front and center of that culture, so if you want to experience the best of what there is to experience, just take a trip downtown and start wandering through the madness that you'll meet there.
