It is also a market leader in frontier drilling.Looking ahead, Davidson says the companys growth strategy is to become a leading global specialty driller through accretive acquisitions and organic growth.In the past two years, it has acquired three companies, namely UK-based Envirodrill and Dando International, as well as Bertram International Corporation of Alberta, Canada. These acquisitions served to expand its inter- national footprint and diversify its service offering by providing mineral drilling, oil sands drilling and drilling rig manufacturing services to its clients.When announcing its third-quarter results for 2011, Energold reported that an increasing portion of the drilling mix included frontier drilling- oriented programmes primarily in West Africa and South America, with a majority of the drilling projects worldwide continuing to be the more competitively bid brownfield mine site programmes. However, as new rigs were built earlier in 2011, an increasing portion of the drilling mix during the quarter had shifted towards frontier drilling in areas such as West Africa and South America.Owing to the significant demand, Energold completed its tenth quarter of consecutive growth in metres drilled. At November 2011, the company had 126 mineral drilling rigs with three more on order.It reported that all regions performed strongly, with Africa outperforming all markets. Mexico experienced a signifi-cant increase in demand and productivity, contributing to about 40% of the total metres drilled for the nine months ending September, with Brazil, Central America and Peru continuing to remain active, with significant improvement in Madagascar.Africas growth continues to be strong, with about one-third of the fleet now located there.
