subject: On Page Optimisation Explained [print this page]

On Page Optimisation is a part of Search Engine Optimisation. There are several parts to Search Engine Optimisation however the main to are On Page Optimisation which covers what can be done on the pages of the website itself and Off Page Optimisation which covers activity that takes place elsewhere.

On Page Optimisation needs to be complete within each page of your website which includes the html coding of each page. It will tell the search engines including Google, Yahoo, Bing and many more, who you are and what you do. Now you might be thinking that your websites products and service tell the search engines this and they should be able to see what you do and gather this information for themselves, however it isnt that simple. Search Engines cant see images on your website in less they include something called Alt Tags (I will explain what they are a bit later on.) You need to make sure all these things are in place so the search engine can see what you do and therefore help increase the exposure of your website on the organic listings.

To make sure your on page optimisation is completed correct you will need to make sure that the keywords that you want to get higher positions for on the search engines are mentioned on your website pages enough times, but don't go adding to many keywords as the search engines will see this a black hat techniques if you add to many mentions of the words which will have a negative impact on your positions and website in the search engines and you dont want this as you will damage your chances of gaining good positions organically. You also need to make sure that your html on page optimisation is correct which includes things like title, keywords and description tags, alt tags and also header tags (h1 to h6). You want this information to be the same keyword as you have added on your homepage, so where ever the search engines look they can see and there you have more chance of getting a better position.

Off Page Optimisation is also known as off page SEO this is work that can be done outside of your website to help your maximise the performance of your website in the search engines to increase your exposure on Google, Yahoo and Bing on the keywords that you have mentioned within your On Page Optimisation. Off Page Optimisation can be completed in the form of link building. This is where you get other websites, directories and article to link back to your website giving your website a vote of popularity. So the more popularity your website gets the better chance your website has of increasing its positions within the search engines. Make sure you get links from high ranked and relevant websites and they are one way inbound links. Link building needs to be done over a period of time so it looks as natural as possible to the search engines. Link Building can be one the most difficult, boring and time consuming processes of search engines optimisation as you have to find lots of article website, directory pages and social bookmarks to submit your website to there isnt any quick way to do this as each and every submission needs to be done manually, you can employ companies like ourselves to do this for you as we already have all the places to submit you to ready and waiting but again the submission take a period of time of writing articles relevant to your products and then submitting them.
