What is the purpose of having a vision statement in the company? A vision statement spells out the goals for the company. It serves a mental picture of what you want to happen or become in the years to come. Moreover, it envisions on the company's growth, values, employees, contributions to the society and the like. It gives a clear picture to the employees working for the company on what they are aiming. A vision statement should be concise and no jargon words are used to make it clear to everyone. Most of the time, it comes from the values and purpose of the company.

Who make or makes the vision statement? The founder of the company can make the vision statement stating what the company wants to become in a period of time. It is striking that everyone can remember it and put every effort to attain it. The single sentence of a vision statement can be a powerful weapon for the company to succeed in every project or goals. There are other companies who have a special team for making the vision statement; they may get each representative from the different management of the team and together make the vision with the combine ideas incorporating the philosophy of the company. Also there are times wherein the founder and the top officers and some people from the management make the vision statement.

Does every company have an effective vision statement? The answer is No. That is why some employees get confused and eventually cannot do their work well. They might have misunderstood the statement or simply don't understand it all. As a result, company fails and closes for operation. To have an effective vision statement there are key points to follow. First, A company should know what they want to achieve and begin with what they believe in - that goes with what is there purpose and take it to a higher level, what they want to contribute and what image they want to convey to their competitors, suppliers and most especially to their customers. Second, try to have a single sentence of the vision statement; it simply states the strong side of the company having it brief and clear to all; it should capture the world the company imagines. And third, leave what you sell out. Communicate it to them the vision of the company. For example, the vision statement of Stokes Eye Clinic in the southeastern United States is "Our vision is to take care of your vision." With these key points the makers of the vision statement can list all their ideas and after that have it brainstorming with the other makers to have an effective vision statement. This vision statement alone can save the company for it can inspire the employees of the company. Making it together with other workers give a sign of camaraderie and teamwork which can give a sense of importance of having each other making it more motivational for them to aspire what they have in their vision statement.
