Simply pay for the flights, agree to work, and have your accommodation taken care of.
An experienced WWOOFer will know exactly the right place to volunteer their service and perhaps there are few better destinations than Hawaii.
How about waking up to a breakfast of freshly picked mangoes and other tropical fruits, a days work in the fields followed by an evening spent in the hot tub or over-gazing a pastoral ocean.
Yet the beach walks and leis are inter-cut with other less exotic sights. On your first day don't be surprised to be invited to watch one of the farm masters invite you along to watch them cut up a mango tree with a chainsaw. The sight of wood splintering and crashing branches is hardly the most Hawaiian of sights.
This is followed by hours of wading through the wreckage for the days pickings, weed whacking and inspecting leeks in the water supplies. But then after a rejuvenating coffee your time is back in your possessing and you can drive down to the white sand beaches feeling the pride of working a day's labour.
Then back at the farm there is dinner waiting to be served, if you have found good hosts then you will probably be treated to something, with a nice wine to wash it down with.
Then there is more work do be done the next morning, machetes at dawn, hacking at trees and maintaining the plant growth of the farm. Under the hot 30 degree sun you can expect this work to really take it out of you and will probably find yourself power napping at lunch time.
Re-emerging hot and sweaty the afternoon's work should hopefully be a little less strenuous, but still don't expect it to be relaxing.
After a few days of this activity the words day' and off' put in that sequence are the most welcoming in the English Language, a tiny poem beautiful enough to make even the most wizen heart flutter. But then what are you going to do with it?
Of course you are in Hawaii and there is much you could be exploring, but it may be just as attractive to spend the day lazing around.
After a week's work ankles are scratched and shins are bruised, and the skin is covered in mosquito bites, this may not be to everyone's taste, but for some it is an experience that will last a long time in their mind.
For others though there are ways to cuts costs without having to work your fingers to the bone, for instance Hawaii rentals are a great way of saving money ion an otherwise pricey location.
