Cuba began the construction of a hotel of 483 rooms on the beach of Guardalavaca, in the province of Holgun, considered the third tourist destination in the island after Varadero and Havana.

Holguin beaches are among the most picturesque in the Caribbean, for its warm, calm, and turquoise waters, which are surrounded by coral formations. Its delicate sand is highly recommended for a sunbath.

The architect Manuel Fernandez Diaz, member of the team that designed the new installation said that the hotel will be operated by Cubanacan and Iberostar. The All Inclusive facility will be located on the first line of the most famous beach in the north of the eastern region, and will have five accommodation blocks, and other three for different services.

Although the work constructions will begin this year, most of it will be executed in 2013. Among the benefits of the project highlights the recovery and integration of existing facilities at this beach, with high architectural values, that were built during the 50s of last century.

Holguin is an ideal place for your Cuba holidays and is located in the northern part of eastern Cuba, between the provinces of Las Tunas and Guantanamo. It is one of the richest sceneries in Cuban nature. It was in this area (Bariay) where Christopher Columbus landed in 1492, and was fascinated by its beauty.

During 2011 the province received more than 284 thousand visitors, a record equivalent to a 10% over the previous year. Canada remains the main sender to this eastern part of the Caribbean archipelago, followed by the UK, Germany, Italy and Holland.

In the actual high season of 2012, the weekly flights to International Airport Frank Pais were a total of more than fifty, including a recently inaugurated route coming from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The province has currently more than four thousand 800 rooms, distributed mostly in the resorts of the north coast like Guardalavaca, Playa Esmeralda and Pesquero.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) on its official website confirmed that in 2011 came to Cuba more than two million 700 thousand visitors, a record for tourism in the country.

Manuel Marrero, minister of Tourism, reported that this represents an increase of 7.3 percent compared with 2010 and that several nations reached record led by Canada, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia and Russia. It is anticipated that in 2012 Cuba reach two million 900 thousand visitors.
