subject: Is Watching Reality Tv Shows Beneficial Or Not? [print this page]

We all love watching TV, don"t we? Unlike the shows of yesteryear, today, fortunately we have a lot of channels and oodles of programs to enjoy. Though there are many types of TV programs, one genre that is very popular is the reality shows. These shows caught the glare of the public even when the first time they were aired. And, the year 2000 was when the reality shows were recognized as the king of all television shows. And the audience support has never dipped since then. One striking feature about the reality shows is that they are unscripted and provide maximum entertainment for the audience. The concept is exciting, the participants are talented, and the emotions are true! However, from a critic"s point of view, one can even say that just like other TV programs, even the reality shows are being commercialized- fake publicity and money being the reason for it. So let us dig deeper into this interesting topic and know what the truth behind it is.

Do reality shows have a bad influence?

People who enjoy watching the reality shows on their cable connection powered by any of the popular services such as Xfinity Bundle Deals may not agree with the point under discussion. However, I would still say there are a set of people who still feel that watching the reality shows is nothing more than a mere waste of time. What"s the point in watching a show in which people who we hardly know take part and enjoy and walk away with a huge cash prize? We don"t get anything other than being mere spectators from home. As a matter of fact, there was a time when programs on TV channels like Discovery and Animal Planet, that are pleasant and cool, dominated the TRP ratings and left their counterparts scratching over their heads looking for better programs to gain the attention of the audience.

Fortunately, for them, the reality shows have managed to replace them and sustain as the advertiser"s favorite. It is pretty much evident from the fact that these days, almost every channel depicts a set of reality shows. And this is not surprising! Nevertheless, you have a lot of programs entailing the personal life history of popular celebrities or a bunch of people sitting and bad-mouthing each other. You have programs like America's Funniest Home Videos, MasterChef, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Top Gear, and The Biggest Loser that are interesting to watch. The content of these programs is also quite good to be honest. And there are shows like Jersey Shore, Big Brother, Wife Swap, Jon & Kate Plus 8, Teen Mom, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians that take the entertainment of reality shows to the next level.

Though both these types of reality shows are good-to-watch for the adults, parents have a bit of concern when their kids sit down to watch these shows largely due to the negative traits they involve. The TV shows have a strong influence on the kids and any vulgar content gets to their mind very easily. One has to accept the fact that sometimes the reality TV shows go overboard with respect to the glamour part of it. The costumes and moments of the participants get to your nerves especially if you have turned on the channels while your kids are sitting beside you. One has to accept the fact that glamour, profanity, on-screen fights, scenes showing alcohol and drug usage have all become a part and parcel of the reality shows. In conclusion, the reality TV shows are good to watch; but only for the adults; not for the entire family!
