subject: 15 Destination Weddings And Still Counting For Couple That Gets Married Every Year [print this page] Renewing your wedding vows can be one of the most romantic ways to show each other how much you still care but most husbands and wives wait for a milestone anniversary to say I Do all over again.
One couple from California, however, have decided to exchange their marriage vows every year and so far, they have enjoyed 15 destination weddings in several locations across the world.
Evan, 41, and Susan Money, 39, tied the knot for the first time in July, 1997 with a traditional church wedding with eight bridesmaids and a big wedding dress.
I was beyond excited. It was beautiful, seeing all the details of the day coming together, Susan said. I wasnt nervous at all - I was so happy about starting my adventure as Evans wife. It was a dream wedding to my dream man - I didnt want the moment to end.
When their first wedding anniversary arrived the couple were supervising some children on a school trip to the Gardens of Versailles in France when they found themselves with a spare hour to spend some time together.
The gardens were so romantic that Evan suggested they renew their vows there and then.
We snuck off and found a pond on a hill all by itself. It was idyllic - the sunshine shimmering through the tree leaves, birds chirping in the distance - we couldnt have asked for a more romantic setting, Evan explained.
'We couldnt remember the exact vows,' admits Susan, 'So we just spoke from our hearts and said how we felt about each other, how much we valued our first year of marriage.
The ceremony was so special that the pair decided to renew their vows every year by getting married abroad and in the U.S in a different destination every time.
Over the past fifteen years the married couple have enjoyed romantic destination weddings on a ranch in Fort Lauderdale, on a beach in Cabo, Mexico, in an airport in Portland, in a windmill in Germany, in a hot air balloon in Mexico, on a beach in Hawaii, and at a Las Vegas hotel where they dressed up as a king and queen, accompanied by their first son, then a toddler.
To celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, Susan and Evan decided against a tropical wedding in an exotic destination and they choose to renew their vows at the original church where they first got married. They invited 125 close friends and family to the ceremony and their two children, Joshua and Ashley, were their usher and bridesmaid.
Susan said the wedding in the Bahamas was her favourite where they had dolphins for a bridesmaid and usher and sea lions were swimming around them in the water. Evan on the other hand picked their Hawaii wedding as his favourite, saying "The look on Susan's face - she's just so happy. And that's what all this is about, making each other deeply happy"
