subject: Why Network Marketers Fail: The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing [print this page]

In the midst of our current economic situation, more people than ever are considering starting their own home businesses. Many professionals are recommending that individuals start their own businesses, by using the network marketing model. While many have placed their financial dreams in the network marketing model, up to 95 percent of new network marketing business owners fail, give up and quit the business. The reason why these business owners fail has nothing to do with the fact that network marketing doesn't work as a business model. The reason why these business owners fail, is because so many new network marketers are fed the 7 great lies of network marketing.

So, let's take a look at the 7 great lies of network marketing that set new marketers up for failure, instead of success:

1."Anyone can do this!". The fact is that everyone can not become a successful network marketer, nor do they want to! If you think about it, if everyone was able to become successful within this business model, then everyone would be doing it and rolling in money. The fact is that everyone isn't equipped to be a business owner. Some people don't want to become business owners, nor do they want to manage others.

2. "You don't need to learn any skills to be successful". This is like saying that you don't need to learn how to cook in order to make a gourmet meal. Any new endeavor requires that you learn new skill sets, let alone starting a new business. Reading network marketing starter kit materials aren't enough! New marketers need to learn how to start and run a business. They also need to learn sales skills .

3. "Everyone is waiting for your opportunity!". This is one of the most egregious 7 great lies of network marketing ever. Not only is everyone not waiting for your opportunity, but this lie has caused many network marketers to lose friends and family associations. This lie has definitely helped to make network marketers look desperate and cheap.

4. "You'll make money in no time!". This one another one of the most egregious 7 great lies of network marketing. First, if new network marketers are told that they don't have to learn any new skills in order to become successful business people, then can they really be expected to make money in no time? Furthermore, how many new businesses make money in no time, in reality?

5. "Work harder/you're not motivated enough". Out of the 7 great lies of network marketing, this is one of the most pathetic. This is a catch-all lie that network marketers hear, when no one knows what else to tell them.

6. "It won't cost you anything to make tons of money!". There is no such thing as a business that requires no money, in order to generate revenue. Even if a network marketing company charges nothing to sign up, a business owner needs to have money on hand for advertising, marketing, product samples, etc.

7. "Your product will sell itself!" While some products tend to be more desirable than others, all products need to be marketed, in order to produce revenues. No matter how desirable or popular a product is, if the product isn't marketed, then no one will know about it. If no one knows about the existence of a product, then no one will purchase it.
