subject: What Causes Muscle Weakness Causes Tiredness And Fatigue [print this page]

What is muscle weakness? Simply speaking, it is the reduced strength in the muscles that people experience from time to time. It is quite difficult to diagnose it using the bare eyes but with the help of medical professionals, it will be easier to detect if a person is experiencing muscle weakness.

Doctors need to closely diagnose a person to determine what causes the weakness in the muscles. This may take some time because there are a lot of factors to be considered such as metabolic factors and toxins. Other things that can cause this condition are muscular disorders such as dystrophy. Blood diseases such as anemia and low sugar level can also be the culprits behind muscle strain.

When the muscles are weak, the person becomes more vulnerable to tiredness. This is because the body is forced to exert more energy when moving. This also means that until the causes of muscular weakness are present, tiredness will also be present as well. To go into details, let us discuss the different specific dysfunctions in several aspects of the health that contribute to the condition.

The first thing that we should talk about is the metabolic cause. Included in this cause are the low levels of sodium and potassium in the body. There is a meaning as to why athletes eat bananas to prevent their muscles from acting up. This is because potassium in bananas serves as food for the muscles to make them stronger. Over activity of the thyroid and the parathyroid glands can also weaken the body.

For neurological causes, the dysfunctions involved are sclerosis and stroke. Sclerosis is a kind of bone disease which affects the coordination of the nervous system, primarily the spinal cord and the brain, negatively. Stroke, in severe cases, can also damage the nerves and the overall functions of the body. Cerebral palsy and Bell's palsy should also be considered when talking about reduced strength of the muscles.

We should now go to the muscular causes. There are some muscle abnormalities that lead to fatigue. One of these is dermatomyositis. This condition attacks the skin and the muscles of the body making them inflamed. As a result, there is reduced strength and prolonged pain. Another cause is the dystrophy where in the muscles naturally and progressively lose their strength because of genetic factors.

People should also be wary of toxins as well when dealing with tiredness. Toxins do not only affect the activity of the muscles but also strain the body. When the body detects foreign materials, its initial reaction is to fight and eliminate them. Toxins can be found in some shellfish and seafood during red tide. People can also get them from toxic gases and harmful insecticides. Even pollution can cause toxin build up so people who feel tried should get away from polluted places.

Weakness in the muscles is caused by different things. This is also the case for tiredness. Therefore, to fight tiredness, you should first fight the causes behind it no matter how small or big they are.
