subject: The Do's And Dont's Of Network Marketing [print this page] I know it says dos and donts but just to be different Im going to start with the donts because they are the ones which will hit you first!
In no particular order, except for the first one which is the most imporatnt, my list of Network Marketing donts is as follows:-
Dont expect your fantastic network marketing offer to be a quick fix to solve any financial problems you might have. Given time and application it may well do that but no matter what youre told it sure as heck wont make you a fortune in the first week!!
Dont believe everything you are told about your opportunity
No, make that dont believe anything you are told about your opportunity. Make sure you check everything you are told. Google the name of your opportunity and see if you can find blogs, articles, in fact anything you can about it, make notes about the comments and study them all carefully.
Following on from the previous point dont ever answer the phone and sign up to something without doing your research first!
Dont, regardless of what you are told, expect to sit back, do nothing and collect the money! Network marketing, of any kind, is a business and you must expect to work hard at it, even if it is from the comfort of your own home.
When, and if, you decide to give network marketing a try and you have decided on your opportunity try not to exaggerate when you are presenting it to your leads. You obviously dont want to undersell it but too much hype makes it just unbelievable. For example I got a text last Sunday morning which said, and I quote OMG ********** just made me 54k last week working from home, Check it out at-. There are several things about that text that should put you off right away and they are 1) 54k in a week is pure fantasy unless you are a superstar of some kind and 2) if you had something that made you that kind of money in a week you certainly wouldnt tell anybody about it! and 3) if you had just made that in the last week would you be sitting sending out texts at 9.30 on a Sunday morning?!
Now for some of the Dos:-
Do expect to spend a lot of time getting everything set up and running properly. Network marketing is like any other business and requires time, effort and organisation to function at its best.
Do be realistic about your possible opportunities prospects the latest automated nasal hair remover may be the best thing since sliced bread but realistically how many people will actually want one?
Do expect to run out of leads quite quickly just how many times can you ask friends and family to buy your product and how many of your facebook friends will be in the least interested.
Do be prepared to spend money. You may have to advertise and buy lists of leads and that costs money although there are ways round that (spending the money) if you know how to do it.
Do be prepared to look at other ways to get your leads, mostly on the internet. Some of the suggestions will just be plain daft, some will simply take your money and run and some will look quite good but ultimately will let you down. Again there are good ways to generate MLM leads for free if you know where to look.
There are probably a lot more dos and donts to network marketing but these are the main ones that Ive come across and had to overcome. Overcoming them was difficult and probably the worst was the MLM lead situation. I ended up buying leads only to suspect that some of them were months old and consequently the people were no longer interested. But you try explaining that to the lead supplier and asking for a refund!
After a lot of thinking (I did have a lot of spare time when my network marketing was going nowhere) I realised that the old school method of MLM lead generation was, quite frankly, rubbish and embarked down the road of trying to come up with a modern 21st century method utilising the power of the internet. After a lot of research, not to mention time, I decided what I had to do and then reality struck. It would cost a fortune, which I didnt have, to get my concept up and running and what if it failed?
Luckily, by chance, I came across a ready made solution on the internet which not only generates leads from the internet but then automatically contacts these leads with the details of my products.
