subject: Chris Hansen Nbc [print this page] Chris Hansen is an investigative journalist for Dateline NBC does a awesome job. He has courage to be able to confront people face to face. Some people will say that's because he has all this security around him but there are news pieces he does where he does not.
Most of you know Chris Hansen from To Catch A Predator, which was when Dateline worked with a group called Perverted Justice. Perverted Justice goes online pretending to be teens to find adults who're willing to get together with them to have sex. They then invited the adult over their house and when the adult showed up Chris Hansen confronted them.
In the first few episodes the adults who did this weren't arrested, right away. After that they worked with the local police departments in the area Dateline was doing the investigation who did a parallel investigation and arrested those adults right after they left the house after speaking with Chris.
Dateline rented these beautiful large houses where Chris Hansen, Perverted Justice, and all the camera crew were working out of a different part of the house that the adult coming over would not see. The police would be in the garage of the house or hiding out next door.
There were only guys who showed up to these stings. Chris Hansen said when interviewed by Dateline its because women who do this mainly do it with a child who they know personally. These guys were charged with felonies and a lot of them served jail time.
Chris also did an investigation on abusive collection companies. There was a collection agency where producers wearing hidden cameras went to a bar where many of the employees hung out and they were all admitting that they abuse the debtors over the phone. Even a supervisor who was there said that when you begin working for the agency you have to abide by the laws but after you have beenat the agency for a while you can violate them. A lot of collection companies are like this.
There was one collection company out of Buffalo NY that shocked me what they were doing. They were impersonating police officers and contacting debtors saying that they would arrest them if they did not pay the debt.
This collection agency was ran by 2 convicted felons. Chris Hansen actually went to the owners house but no one would come to the door. He thenThen he went to the collection company to confront these people. Of course he was thrown out.
This collection company in Buffalo was shut down. The police arrested the owner as well as a lot of the employees. They were charged with things like impersonating a police officer and extortion. Now when the police arrested the owner they searched his house and discovered an AK-47 and he had a handgun in his possession.
Chris also did a couple of shows where he exposed those 419 scammers. This was one of my favorites. Chris Hansen pretended to be interested in handing these scammers money. He went to a lot of countries to meet up with these guys. When he confronted one of them this scammer ran away. The others started sweating a lot on camera.
Chris currently has his own show called The Hansen Files. Chris exposes things such as companies that are ripping people off, shady insurance salesmen, as well as some criminal investigations. This show airs on MSNBC.
If you have not viewed any of Chris Hansen's stories I encourage you to. He really exposes people and makes them pay for what they did. Congress has actually said that Datelines has done more then anyone else has to catch these criminals.
