subject: Shipping To Po Boxes With Medical Supplies [print this page]

Shipping any type of parcel can be a difficult matter if the customer isn't sure of the specifics. This is especially true when the client is shipping medical supplies. Where exactly can person ship medical supplies? After all, a lot of companies don't receive mail directly to their business; they instead will use a post office box. Then the question becomes, will the medical courier deliver the package to a post office box? There are a lot of factors that play into this.

First and foremost, it depends on the package that is being sent. If the package is of temperature sensitive material, then it probably will not be able to be sent to a post office box. The box is not going to be cooled correctly in order to keep the material effective for the receptive party. Now, if it is time sensitive then the client may have more options. Some companies will have their post office boxes checked at regular intervals; so if they have the reminders about the transit of the package, then they will be able to get it before the time runs out. But, it is always good to check with the receiving party about these aspects, that way no one is surprised when it is delivered.

Now, if only sending supplies that don't have any of the requisites above, then the choices will not be as limited. The customer will only need to check with the courier company on their specifics. Many of the medical courier services will be able to ship to a post office box. They will of course ask the standard questions of what type of parcel that is being sent, that way they can make sure the best service is used. This has only become more common, as more companies are using PO boxes as opposed to having things sent directly to the office.

All it takes is a little research behind the scenes to make sure the package will get to the right place on time. Once it has been checked with the recipient and the courier company, then they should be in the clear. Of course, this is only if a business is just starting out; if it has dealt with them before, then it shouldn't be as difficult or take as much time. For the most part, any time someone is shipping general supplies, they will be able to rely on the shipping company to get it to a post office box.
