subject: Hypnosis - Conversational Hypnosis Basics [print this page]

Have you ever considered the benefits of learning about conversational hypnosis? Do you even understand what it is? Recall the powers of the Jedi from the Star Wars movies. When they speak, they can influence the thinking patterns of those around them. Now, people who believe in conversational hypnosis and implement it into their everyday lives do not believe they have Jedi powers. The process of this form of hypnosis comes from a routine of very well-choreographed manipulations that help change the mind of those around you to agree with your opinions. Basically, it is having an emphasized ability to persuade people in everyday conversations.

When you hear the word "hypnosis," flamboyant television shows sometimes come to mind, with hypnotists asking people in a trance to perform ridiculous tasks. This is also what people perceive a trance to be, something that must be cleverly induced. Professional psychotherapists agree that people fall into trance-like states multiple times throughout a day. "Zoning out" is a popular phrase used to describe what children do in class at school or what people do waiting alone on a bench for the bus to arrive. The mind seems to go somewhere else. By using a few specific techniques, you can create a trance state in those around you to get them to agree with you.

Take this simple example. Someone says to you, "There is no way out of my situation." The first action toward conversational hypnosis is to agree with them. Saying, "You're right. You are stuck with your situation," is a great way to create rapport with the person. Next, you confuse the issue by saying, "Even so, can you be sure that an answer to your predicament won't come to your mind in a few minutes?" Or you could encourage resistance with a statement like, "You have no chance to escape your problem because no one could ever solve that problem!"

Indirect suggestions are also an important part in making conversational hypnosis work for you. As the discussion continues and your conversationalist starts to find solutions on their own, you can provide a statement like, "You are feeling more hopeful now, aren't you?" By suggesting it, their subconscious will latch onto it. This is one circumstance where conversational hypnosis is guaranteed to boost the spirits of the person you are talking with. These techniques can be mastered and you can begin influencing the thoughts of others around you today!
