subject: Nissan Dual Injector Technology [print this page] July 14, 2009 was the day that changes the on road automobile performance completely. The credit, for this innovation went to the innovation and R&D Department of the Nissan Motors.
Automobile is made up of numerous parts that doing his best job for the better performance, low pollution, higher torque and economy savings. Some of the numerous parts are piston, rings, cylinder, cylinder head and liner, crankshaft, camshaft, flywheel and most important injector.
In combustion chamber, inlet and outlet valve opens due to the movement of the camshaft. This movement causes the piston to move and up and down. Up and down movement of piston causes crankshaft rotates. Injector is used to inject small quantity of gasoline inside the combustion chamber.
Generally, till now, all the vehicles are equipped with the single injector per cylinder for the injection process. But due to the sudden temperature increases of environment, all the vehicle manufacturer are in search for the technology that reduces the pollution keeping the engine performance same. Now time is came to increase the number for the better combustion, more power and torque and less pollution.
Right now, this technology is opened for the small displacement cars. Two injectors per cylinder increase speeds of vaporization, reduced amount of unburned particles and thereby reducing the emission from the vehicle. Two injectors per cylinder reduces the diameter of the particle droplets approximately half, this will result in more smoother and stable combustion inside the chamber.
In accordance with this technology Nissan also introduces Continues Valve Timing Control tech in the same engine. This tech reduces the pumping losses at the intake manifold and improves heat efficiency that will helpful for the particles to evaporate more quickly. More and quick vaporization improves combustion and thereby engine power. This both the tech with each other saves the 3-5% of economy.
There is an obvious question in your mind, that if there are two fuel injectors per cylinder then it consumes more fuel than single. So let me clarify that of course it uses two but the amount of fuel taken by both is as same as taken by single in case of single into the combustion chamber. Dual injectors are used to convert fuel particles into very fine sprays so that the vaporization process of fuel gets speeds up during the combustion. This increases performance reducing fuel loss, reducing emission and also increases overall efficiency.
