subject: The Best Restaurants In Panama [print this page]

As a tourist in Panama, finding food that fills the stomach and lifts the spirits is quite easy. Aside from the local cuisine, there are many other restaurants in Panama that showcase the eclectic, exotic and exciting food culture in the country. These are as follows:

Sukhi. For a taste of Southeast Asian cuisine, then Sukhi is the place to be in Panama. Even in this South American paradise, local produce become ingredients for flavors that is half a world away. Their main centerpiece is the Thai curry and the chef goes to great lengths to accommodate the particular tastes of its connoisseurs. Instead of a set dish, the chef allows variations as to spiciness and even accommodating vegan practitioners to dine at its tables. The ambience of tangerine and white decor, bringing the diner back to another world.

Luna. Ambiance is what makes this eatery truly unique aside from its menu. Luna means "moon" in Spanish and like the moon, the menu is as consistent as it is fulfilling. Staples include cobia or black salmon with goat cheese and fruit. Another star would be the chicharron or fried pork belly with sweet soy glaze, a truly crisp and exhilarating dish. It is recommended that waiter's choices be considered but when not to your liking, ask for a dish that can fill your belly.

Puerta de Tierra. This steakhouse in the heart of Panama City is one place to go to and be enriched. The restaurant is designed with a loft to give a cozier and roomier ambiance. Everything tastes great, from the free yucca fries to the sour grilled octopus platter drizzled with soy and cilantro. Another belly buster is the Double LF Deluxe Panama Burger. This is sixteen ounces of Black Angus with major add-ons such as bacon, emmental, grilled portabellas and avocado. Best eaten with onion tempura and cool glass of iced tea to wash it all down. For a truly fulfilling meal, the burger can be ordered as a double, meaning thirty two ounces but can prove to be too overwhelming for a regular diner.

As can be seen, the culinary scene in Panama is eclectic and exciting. Aside from the local fare, the chefs of the country have incorporated and assimilated foreign styles and textures for a truly Panamanian delight. Do try out Sukhi, Luna and Puerta de Tierra and one cannot go wrong in trying out the delights that the city can offer your discriminating palate.
