Travel and Leisure magazine holds an annual review of the top 10 cities in the world to travel to. As voted on by their readers, here is countdown for 2011:

1.Bangkok. Bankgkok is the capital of Thailand and means the city of Angels. The full name of Bangkok is 167 letters making it the longest city name in the world. That isn't the reason it won best city to visit. National Geographic name it Southeast Asia's most dynamic and exciting city. Intoxicating and a jarring mix of modern and ancient.

2.Florence. Who wouldn't love Florence? The birthplace of the Renaissance. Forbes ranked Florence as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. With numerous museums and art galleries, architectural wonders, century old sculptures and the home to Michaelangelo's beloved David. Florence would win the heart and soul of any art appreciator.

3.Rome. Same reasons as Florence, art, culture, beauty, and history. Rome, of course, is home to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel among others wonders.

4.New York City. New York City is like nothing else in the world. Home to the largest financial district in the world, the United Nations, Fashion Mecca, art, theater and the cultural capital of the world. The most powerful people in the world walk the streets of New York. Hotels in New York City need to be booked in advance as 50 million tourist descend upon her streets annually.

5.Istanbul. Turkey is little known to the travelers of the USA but Europeans have long visited this beautiful country and city. With 300-year-old operating bath houses, to the Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque and Bosporus night cruise, Istanbul will capture your imagination.

6.Cape Town. Lonely Planet describes Cape Town as good-looking, sporty, and sociable. Nestled at Africa's southern tip, it offers an enticing taste of the entire continent.

7.Siem Reap, Cambodia. Listed as Camobida's eight wonder of the world, Siem Reap is charming with old French shop-houses and shady tree-lined boulevards. Mass ruins that are half devoured by a ravenous jungle, Temples, Citadel of Women, Bridges, royal palace, and elephants are only a couple of reasons to visit this amazing city.

8.Sydney, Australia. Sydney is Australia's largest, oldest, and most diverse city. Legendary surf beaches and enough nightlife to please even the most finicky.

9.Barcelona, Spain. People who are serious travelers always place Barcelona at the top of their most visit cities. They gush at the beauty, culture and art found in this Spanish nest in Western Europe.

10.Paris, France. Paris is the city of lovers. Those that love architecture, history, art, and beauty that is. While in that part of the Europe don't forget a quick stop to Versailles, the showcase for all the artisanship and beauty.
