subject: Things You Should Look For In A Nail Salon [print this page]

Getting a manicure and pedicure can work wonders for a girl's mood. You feel clean, refreshed, and you leave your favorite nail spa with a general feeling of wellbeing. Most neighborhood nail spas even become places where people go to hear and talk about the latest gossip. Some people even develop close relationships with their preferred nail technicians and they become confidantes for their clients. What people don't want from their nail salons is to come out with an infection or an injury. This is why you should be careful in choosing the nail salon and nail technician you decide to patronize.

The first thing you should consider when choosing a nail spa is whether or not it's clean. Getting an infection from a nail salon after a manicure and pedicure is a very distinct possibility. The best nail salons make sure that their establishment and the tools that their technicians use is clean and free from bacteria. The best nail salons also make sure that their nail technicians maintain good hygiene.

Whenever you go to a new nail salon, try to go at least 15 to 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment. That way you have time to look around and you can observe whether or not the establishment is clean, especially the floors, the tools or implements, and each station. You shouldn't be able to see any sort of debris on the floors or on the technicians' stations. And there should not be any evidence of rust on any of the steel implements used by the technicians. Observe the technicians as well. Do they wash their hands before and after each customer? Do they disinfect their tools and implements? Do they ask their customers to wash their hands and feet before they get a manicure or pedicure? If they don't do even one of these things, then you should leave and look for a different nail salon. Some of the infections you can get from dirty nail spas are unpleasant and dangerous.

Another thing you should look at is how skilled the nail technicians are. Under no circumstances should you feel any pain during or after your manicure or pedicure. Manicures and pedicures are not supposed to hurt. And the nail technician should be very careful when they're trimming your nails or working on your cuticles.

Lastly, you should be happy with the results of your manicure or pedicure. The level of service should be consistent, and as a paying customer, you should get consistently good results.
