Company team building events have become a popular phenomenon across the world from smaller SMEs to multinational corporations to hold team building events annually. Corporate team building activities serve not only to build professional bonds between fellow colleagues, but also between management and their subordinates.

Popular Team Building Activities

The usual choices for team building exercises are hosted inhouse and include activities such as guided trust exercises and problem solving tasks. However, in recent years many companies have switched to taking their employees out of the office, to get workers out of their usual environment.

Out of office corporate days provide a new dynamic to team-building activities. In order for team-building exercises to be effective, the activity must be stimulating and fun.

There are a host of fun outdoor activities available for companies to incorporate into their team building activity.

War-games such as, paintballing or lazer tag are fast-paced, exciting combat experiences that involve participants doning military attire and work together to complete a range of team objectives. Dodging paint-balls and hiding in bunkers in not only a great way to release stress and tension of day to day work, but also serves a great way to build bonds and friendships between colleagues.

Outdoor activities such as orienteering or team treasure hunts are both popular choices for team building days. Orienteering involves using your map reading and compass skills to navigate through unfamiliar territory. With treasure hunts participants have to follow cryptic clues to determine their route to find a chosen item or destination. These activities are particularly effective for building co-operation and is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Not all team building activities need to expose your staff to the great outdoors, staff activity days that take place indoors include group cooking days. With ample opportunity for alleviating stress and encourage group bonding. This fun experience often includes sampling one another culinary creations with serves as a great talking point.

Whether its indoor or outdoor, team-building exercises are a great way to relieve stress in the workplace and forge new bonds between fellow colleagues and management alike.
