subject: Business Cards - The First Impression.. [print this page]

The Business Card has come a long way in the last 10 years, and a good quality business card is now expected, rather than admired.

Does your business Card present well? Are you making a good first impression? Does your business card say what you do?

Your business card is often the first piece of your marketing material that a potential customer will see. A business card that presents well and looks professional may help cement the positive impression you have made, whilst an unprofessional looking card could damage your credibility.

The cost of Business Cards Brisbane has come down a lot in recent years, and a good quality card is now in reach of the masses. This is mostly due to the increase of aggregated Full Colour Printing by Trade Printers.

The term Aggregated Printing refers to group runs of products such as business cards, Brochures Brisbane, DL Cards, Flyers, Letterheads, With Compliment Slips etc printed in full colour. To capture economy of scale, multiple jobs are printed on a common stock at the same time, and then trimmed down separately.

Prior to full colour or CMYK printing becoming affordable and widespread, most jobs were printed in PMS colour. I.e. for a 2 colour job, 2 PMS colours were used. This meant that each job was printed separately, and a press wash up was required between each run.

Trade Printers now print large group runs of business cards in full colour on a common stock. E.g. 32 business cards printed on an A3 sheet. 500 sheets printed, then trimmed down to 32 lots of 500 business cards.

The power aggregated printing becomes apparent when comparing the cost and quality of business cards available in the market today, compared to 10 years ago. Most business cards are now printed in full colour both sides with a laminate on 1 or both sides.

Prior to the concept of aggregated runs, customers were commonly paying in excess of $500 for a product that now costs $150.

As an example, at Uniprint QLD our Business Cards range from $89 + GST/1000 to $198+ GST/1000 depending on the number of sides printed and laminated.

Other processes such as spot UV varnish and Metallic Inks have also become much more affordable, and can be used to make your job stand out.

A tip when using spot UV or metallic highlights: Dont highlight an image, instead use the spot UV or Metallix to create an image to create a pattern against a solid background.

This can create subtle effects, which are usually more effective than simply highlighting an image.

Another thing to keep in mind: Your business card will only print only as well as your artwork. Invest in good design work, and your business card will already stand out.

At Uniprint QLD we only charge $60 + GST per hour for Design, so its well worth spending that little extra to create something really outstanding.

Keeping the designs cohesive across your business stationary and marketing material will help your organisation portray a clear image of your company vision, mission, values etc.

I recommend you seek the advice of a professional print manager to help you through the process of design and print, to ensure you have a positive print experience.

At Uniprint QLD, our experienced team offers the depth of knowledge to ensure you have a fantastic print experience, every time.
