When I was in my primary class, we had no dress code. Many times I used to face the problem of wearing a different dress every day, at least in a particular week. So it was a great concern both for my parents and me too. It was only after joining the middle school that I got a dress code and I got relieved from the worry. Following certain guidelines in an early age help the kids develop a particular routine for later life. This is the reason why our moms and dads used to say us to follow the day routine strictly. Uniform in beneficial for the school authorities as they can easily distinguish the students of the school by their uniforms. It gives a relief to the parents also for the students can buy 2 or 3 sets of uniforms for the whole year. It is very economical and lays less stress on the pocket of the parents. Modern day schools develop particular dress codes for the students that are cozy to wear.
These may have pockets where kids can carry their money and other small handy items.Opponents of school uniform put their arguments as these sometime make students the target for bullies from other schools. Moreover, these are an unfair additional expense for parents who pay taxes for a free public education and are a financial burden for poor families. Against all these, there are host of reasons that can be put forward in favor of school uniforms. These are briefly discussed below:-
A proper uniform helps prevent gangs from forming on campus. In todays world, the kids always become the target group of the evil forces. Kids are manipulated to join these evil gangs so that their power can increase. With the help of dress code, the school authorities can prevent these forces to dwell inside the school campus
By following a particular dress code, students also learn to follow a particular discipline
These help students resist peer pressure to buy trendy clothes
Diminishes economic and social barriers between students
Increase a sense of belonging and school pride.
Though school uniforms cannot ensure proper safety of students inside the school premises, but these are one of the means to ensure it. There are different other means by which school authorities can ensure school safety for the students.
