subject: Becoming A Christian [print this page] Now tonight Im in the telling mode but you know what? If I don't also show people with my lifestyle, then Im no better than the Pharisees that Jesus had trouble with; Im just a phony religious person who tells everybody else what to do and doesn't show anybody anything.
Joyce Meyer believe we need to do a lot more showing and perhaps a little less telling. That may sound funny because I know we're always telling people "witness, witness, witness, witness" and obviously we should witness with our words, but I think many times we try to beat everybody over the head with our bible and we preach to them right away and we're not showing them anything that makes them want what we have.
So, we need to be transformed and it's a slow and often painful process. Can everybody say: Slow and painful. Slow and painful.: A process always has a beginning, it has a middle, and it has an end. Now, you know the beginning of becoming a Christian is usually pretty exciting. It's like: "Wow! Praise God! I accepted Jesus last night! Man, I felt his presence! I haven't felt this peaceful in like forever. I'm going to go to heaven!" Well, the end of that walk with God is pretty exciting too because whenever we die or when Jesus comes back to get us, then we're going to live in his presence and that's certainly going to be exciting.
So the beginning and the end we don't have any problem with; it's the middle. Most of us are in the middle somewhere and some days we're not sure we can make it through to the end, but with God, you kind of get out in the middle of something and he won't let you go back and you don't know how you're going to go forward but by the grace and the mercy of God, we make it.
