subject: The Beauty Of Reality Tv Shows Is That They Are Here To Stay [print this page]

Reality television is one of the most popular genres of television that depicts unscripted shows starring raw talents from across the country who are looking to make it big in the silver screen. Reality shows have also roped in professional actors to add more glamour to the show. In simple words, programs that come in reality television are popularly called as reality shows and they are often produced as a series. Reality shows have been peoples most preferred choice for family watching for ages. Its mainly because the audiences are able to relate to the stars on the shows and they also have kind of an emotional attachment with the performers. These days, a lot of reality TV shows are being aired in order to appease the entertainment-hungry taste buds of the audience. In some reality shows, you can find common people being given certain tasks or situations by the judges and their reactions and behavior would be filmed instantly. There are also oodles of reality sitcoms that have managed to hit the TV time and again.

Here are some of the genres that reality TV offers you:

* Documentary-style shows

* Self improvement/makeover

*Talent hunts

* Dating shows

* Game shows

*Talk shows

*Hidden cameras

*Renovation

*Supernatural and paranormal

If you have a strong liking for any of the above category, you can go for it. I would like to describe a couple of my favorite shows that I watch regularly at home with my TV powered by ATT UVerse cable.

Wipeout is hosted by three talented people Jill Wagner, John Henson, and John Anderson. On this show, 24 contestants compete against each other with their eyes hawked on the cash prize of $50,000. All the contestants will undergo a qualifier round which will consist of four obstacles. The twelve contestants who are fastest on the clock will advance to the second round. In the second round, the top 12 contestants will face the Sweeper. Six contestants will be eliminated from this round and the last man standing in this round will receive a bonus amount of $1000. The third round will feature the qualified contestants trying to overcome obstacles like Dreadmill or Dizzy Dummy. Two contestants will be eliminated in this round, thus making the tally to four for the next round which will be the final i.e. the wipeout zone. This round will feature the four contestants facing four obstacles in the Wipeout Zone. The contestant who is fastest on the clock will win the ultimate cash prize of $50,000.

Survivor is another great reality show that I love watching. The show features players competing as tribes or as individuals in the jungle. The contestants face a series of obstacles like collecting puzzle pieces or knowledge quizzes. Sometimes the show has also featured some interesting food challenges. Another interesting and rewarding challenge is the survivor auction in which contestants challenge each other for luxurious items like cars. In some cases, the auction includes components that were actually featured in the previous editions. Endurance challenges feature tribe members vying to balance their weight with their body rested in bizarre positions or simply by staying balanced on a small perch for as long as possible. The difficulty level of the task will be increased as the game progresses, in order to determine a winner faster.

Survivor primarily entails two types of challenges: Reward challenge and Immunity challenge. Reward challenge features contestants competing for luxuries which are not considered important for survival but can make life easy and enjoyable for contestants. Luxuries from the previous series have included food, rain gear, matches, and flint. There is another challenge called the Immunity challenge. The main motto of this challenge is to ensure that no one casts their vote against the winner of this tribal challenge.
