subject: The Newactive Sports Crossover [print this page]

The Mitsubishi ASX is a compact crossover; ASX stands for Active Sports Crossover. The sporty looking crossover has been on sale since 2010 and looks very masculine. The ASX is based on the Mitsubishi Outlander with a shortened platform; hence the ASX is a 5 seater rather than a 7 seater. Mitsubishi has been marketing the ASX as a fuel efficient and low CO2 emitting 4x4. Good fuel efficiency is very popular at the moment. People are looking for economically running cars especially with the inflating costs of fuel. The value of a well running vehicle is vital for many and car manufacturers are well supplying vehicles that provide this.

At the moment the ASX is available with 2 engines, the smaller 1.6 litre engine with 115 bhp is only available with the lighter 2 wheel drive model. The larger 1.8 litre diesel engine with its 147 bhp is available with the 2 wheel drive model as well as the 4 wheel drive one. Both engines are mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox.

This month Mitsubishi London has added a new model to the current ASX range the ASX Black edition. The special edition model comes with a bespoke interior and enhanced exterior styling. It has been given a new interior as well which consists of custom black leather interior with carbon fibre detailing.

Additions to the extra include satin black styling kit which includes black 17 inch alloy wheels, roof, spoiler, mirrors, grille and fog lamp bezels. There is a lot of incentive to buy the ASX, Mitsubishi offers a three year warranty that has an unlimited mileage clause, 12 year anti-corrosion warranty, 3 year pan-European roadside, home and accident assistance. Added extras allow you to customise your vehicle to the standard that you prefer. Of corse this come with extra costs but to make your vehicle truly your own these help. Generally a customised car will help it keep its value as these extras will help it stand out from more generic models.

Servicing and maintaining the new Mitsubishi ASX is also pretty straight forward, it needs a service every 12 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first.
