Eat less, and more often. If you can get your teen to eat smaller meals and eat more often, this also helps increase metabolism. The body require calories to burn fat, so eating more often keeps your metabolism running at a higher rate.

Learning to cut back on the fats and reading product labels will speed up your weight loss, plus it is not good for your health. Healthy eating habits should include two servings of fats per day.
