Ford Diesel: Introduction, Excursive Summary, Design, Development and Manufacture for Well Being of Society Economy

Ford diesel engines are also called power stroke engines. It usually used in Ford super duty trucks. Ford Excursion SUV s, Ford Economize vans are the example where we see these kind of engines. Ford diesel engines are manufactured by Navigator International Corporation. Ford motor company was built in mid 1994. It was established at different areas. These areas are Indianapolis, Indiana, Huntsville, Alabama and Brazil. In the middle of 2010 Ford introduced a newly designed 6.7 Liter Power stroke engine. This engine was designed as a newly redesigned interior and exterior and for the first time since the Power stroke first appeared. In 1994 no manual transmission was offered.

These engines primarily used for the full size pickup trucks. The 7.3L Power Stroke diesel was introduced in mid 1994. The power stroke of it was electrically controlled. Direct injection engine with a 4.11 in bore and 4.18 in stroke created a displacement of 444 cu in. It has a 17.5:1 compression ratio and has a dry weight of 920 pounds. This engine produced up to 250 hp and 520 pound-ft of torque for the automatic truck and 275 hp and 520 pound-ft for the manual truck.

The California trucks in 1996 and 1997 had split shot fuel. On the other hand, the rest of the trucks didnt get split shots until 1999. There is a difference between split shot and single shot. This is the single shot only injects one charge of fuel per cycle. On the other hand the split shot releases a pre light load before the main charge to initiate combustion in a more damped manner. The controlled injection helps to reduce the sharp combustion. This mechanism utilizes a single turbo charger with a turbine housing size of 1.15 A/R.

The 7.3L Power Stroke Ford Diesel was replaced by the 6.0 L power stroke in mid of 2003 model year. The 6.0 L power stroke was introduced to the Fort Super Duty trucks. The 6.7 L was the first medium duty diesel engine. It was designed with AVL in Austria. During design the engineers of Ford code named this engine as Scorpion due the turbo being mounted right on the top block. It also includes a compacted graphite iron block for greater strength. On the other hand it also reduced its weight. All 6.7L engines has already shipped to dealer ship and purchased by the customers.
