Tyra Banks raised a storm at her own talk show The Tyra Banks Show. A model, actor, author and businesswoman rolled into one, she hosted the show with alacrity and served as the head judge and executive producer of the show. The show was premiered on September 12th 2005 in front of a live audience in Los Angeles. In summer 2007 the show moved to New York City where it was filmed. While Banks's show covered a variety of topics, there was a sensationalized focus on current issues facing women, with often special episodes on America's Next Top Model, which Banks herself had also created and which she still hosts. The show was aired in many countries, and also remained available on TV channels in both the United States and Canada. It covered topics such as people with odd psychological problems, among other subjects.
The much talked about show created history of sorts as a large number of viewers tuned in to watch the show on Verizon FiOS TV. So much so that it opened avenues for budding models from amongst the viewers. Each season of ANTM has from 9 13 episodes and starts with 10 14 contestants. Each episode usually begins with the contestants receiving training in an area concurrent with the week's theme. For example, contestants may get coached in runway walking, improvisational acting, or applying makeup to suit various occasions. The next step would be challenging, it could be a mock (or real) runway show or interview, and a winner is chosen by a judge. She receives some prize, such as clothing, a night out, or an advantage at the next photo shoot.
The final segment of each episode involves judging by a panel of fashion industry experts which includes celebrities like Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley and fashion photographer Nigel Barker. After all photos have been evaluated, the contestants leave the room and the judges deliberate. The elimination process follows a rigid format, as the host reveals, one by one and in order of merit, the photos of the contestants who have not been eliminated. Excitement builds up as an international destination is scheduled a third of the way through with five or six contestants remaining. To celebrate its tenth cycle, ANTM aired a special installment called America's Next Top Model: Exposed in two parts on May 6 & 13 2011 on CW network. It reviewed the best cat fights, mishaps and most memorable photoshoots and personalities. Brittani Kline went on to win the coveted title and prize.
