subject: The Best Motels For You [print this page]

When looking for motels, there are lots of considerations to ponder. One motel may be perfect for a traveling individual while another may be better for another person's needs. Even the same person may want a different set of amenities depending on the circumstances. Price ranges vary widely depending on the location, amenities and even the dates. Where a person books his or her room will also play a part in cost. Here are some things to consider when choosing a place to stay when away from your own home-sweet-home.

-Reason you need to book a room: If a person is going on vacation for a week and will be spending the whole time at the same motel or hotel, he or she will likely have more desires of the room in terms of amenities. If it's just a place to sleep for the night on a drive across the country, just a bed and bathroom will likely be sufficient.

-Amenities: The selection of amenities will vary widely among hotels. Everything from the most stripped down bed and bath to the most luxurious digs that include flat screen TVs, hot tubs in the room and kitchenettes. Here are some amenities to consider:

oWi-Fi: Let's face it. Most of us need access to our computers along the way. Most lodging venues have Wi-Fi access in the rooms that are either included in the price or for an additional fee.

oCoffee pots: Most rooms now have coffee pots and packets of coffee for their guests. This may be either in the form of a drip pot or a one-shot espresso maker. This is a huge perk to those who need a shot of caffeine to be able to function in the morning. Stumbling in one's jammies to the nearest mini-mart is not a fun way to start a traveling day.

oKitchenettes: For longer stays, having a kitchenette is a huge benefit. This often includes a small fridge and microwave but sometimes even has a cook top with pots and pans.

Restaurant meals are wonderful sometimes, but every meal out can become too much.

oRestaurants on the premises: Some fancy places have restaurants and nightclubs on the premises. This can make for a fun evening out with no drive involved.

-Prices: Prices for hotels and motels can vary widely. They can be as inexpensive as $20 a night or several hundreds of dollars per night. Reservations can be made online, by phone or in person. If a person has access to a computer, this is a great place to obtain the best rates. Not only through the hotels' websites but through discount travel websites such as Expedia or Kayak. Going to certain locations during the off-season will often net big savings, too.

Traveling just to get from Point A to Point B or traveling for fun and vacation can be an adventure. Making sure to get some rest along the way will mean motels must be booked. There are many options to choose from and with a bit of research, there will be a spot to sleep for everyone.
