Wooden Window Blinds add beauty and grace to your home. Genuine wooden blinds are often the best choice among the different types as they last longer. But if you like, you can buy cheaper faux wooden blinds. But the thing is, be it genuine wood or not, every part of your home needs regular cleaning. And if not done regularly and properly, you will find yourself buying new wooden blinds every now and then. Such a waste of money shouldn't be tolerated as you can buy once and have it for a lifetime. Here are some simple ways to clean your wooden blinds.

To start, before doing any cleaning method look for problem stains or spots on your blinds. Wipe off any stains and sticky areas on the blinds with window spray cleaner and make sure that it is clean and dry. Then make sure that you tie in place any curtains or soft furnishings.

One good simple cleaning method that you could regularly do is cleaning with your hands. After making sure that you have wiped off the stains and sticky areas, use soft cotton gloves to wipe off any residual dirt or dust. Put the blinds in their shut position and prepare your gloves. Soft cotton gloves or otherwise called dust-attractant gloves attract dust into their surface and cleans the blinds. You can use this or clothes dryer sheets or kitchen paper towels just make sure that you replace them after using them.

Clothes dryer sheets are good for cleaning window blinds as they reduce the static electricity in the blinds thus attracting less dirt. You can then start running your fingers over the slats but make it light enough to capture the dirt and not leave any of it behind. Do this from the center of the blinds to the left and right edges, this will ensure that you don't run any dust from one end to the other. Now open the blind and put it in its opposite position to clean the other side. If it is easier, open the slats and clean the under side of the slats.

The other method to clean Wooden Window Blinds is by using a vacuum cleaner. This is certainly easier but if you aren't careful you can damage your blinds. Shut the blinds and prepare your vacuum cleaner. Only use the soft duster brush to attach to the nozzle. Do not use the vacuum cleaner on your blinds without this attachment as it could damage your blinds. Hold the blinds with one hand as you clean it. This will prevent the blinds from banging up and down the wall as you clean them. As with the last method, clean the blinds from the center to the left and right edges. Do these until it is fully cleaned, then turn them around and repeat the previous steps.

No matter how tricky Wooden Window Blinds are to clean, as you do it regularly, less dirt and dust will accumulate; thus, cleaning it up becomes easier. Make sure that you do it everyday to prevent buildups that lead to grime and sticky surfaces.
