subject: Should You Upgrade To 3d Now Or Later? [print this page]

To upgrade or not to upgrade, that is the million dollar question for those folks that are thinking about getting a 3D television. Is it worth the upgrade just to have 3D or should you just wait until you need a new television and then look into the whole 3D thing. The answer is most likely going to depend on the amount of disposable income that your family has. If spending a couple of thousand of dollars on a new toy is no big deal, then why not upgrade?

But if you are thinking about upgrading you current television for a 3d model, but have to save up to do it, it might be a different story. Should you save the money up to buy one, sacrifice other fun stuff that you like to do and buy? Well, that all depends on how much you like watching things in 3D. If you're a 3D junky and have already noticed that you are spending too much of your free time wearing those silly glasses while standing in front of a display model of the new television in your local big box electronics store, then you might be a candidate for an upgrade.

On the other hand, if you"ve looked at the new television a couple of times in passing and though that the technology was neat, but did not think about it much afterwards, you most likely don"t need an upgrade. Plus, if you're not super excited about the 3D television, you are in all probability going to have a hard time sitting around wearing those silly goggles that you have to wear when watching a 3D television.

In a few years, when the manufacturers figure out how to make 3D available on a large screen without wearing those glasses and without giving the viewer a headache, it's going to more than likely become much more popular. Some men and women just can not get past the fact that you need to wear the glasses while sitting in your living room, at all times in order for the technology to work.

These glasses might be the deal breaker for some folks. But, if you have had a chance to watch a movie or a nature special, something that could show you the beauty and majesty of the programs in 3D, it really is a simple sell. The pictures look really cool for as long as you can stand wearing the glasses.
