subject: How Does One Cancel A Scheduled Pick Up? As Easily As Clicking A Button [print this page]

New Jersey courier service wants to remind you of a simple fact for the upcoming rush days ahead (and all days are rush days, remember). The flow of business can always be disrupted; that is probably the first rule of business. And the disruption can slow your manufacture and packaging of merchandise, or it can stop it completely.

That is why cancellations exist, and most courier services know they are unavoidable. No courier takes it personally if a regularly scheduled pick up does not materialize; we know that is the normal ebb and flow of business.

That is why cancellation, with your New Jersey courier service or whoever, is usually quite easy. All you need to do is log on to the courier website and click on the link for pickups. Most sites will include a menu with this (usually drop down) that includes cancellations. This module is standard on almost all courier websites because all couriers are smart enough to know these things happen, especially in full service delivery and messaging.

Once you cancel, the website will automatically send you to a scheduling site, complete with calendar, where you may reschedule and reselect dates for another delivery, until you have filled the gap in your merchandise delivery and can rest easy about keeping customers satisfied.

In the case of an emergency, most couriers offer (especially to loyal users) a super fast service to make up the gap, if the cancelled delivery must still be received somewhere. We have discovered that the way to run a good courier business is to look out for your interests.

Your driver is also notified at once, via website and satellite messaging, that he or she need not stop for your packages. If you have rescheduled, another driver is apprised of that too (it may be an emergency run for later on).

We would ask if at all possible that you also call a sales representative, in addition to cancelling the order; that individual can assist with rescheduling and also notify the driver personally, just to be sure the message gets through.

In answer to the question you are dying to ask, yes, there is a charge for cancellation, but only to cover our fuel and driver time; like you, we move our services on good faith (and usually you can avoid the charge if you call the day before).

Here's hoping your business will be flowing on, without disruption, soon!
