subject: Get Rid Of Smokers Breath And Cigarette Smell (kiss That Smoker Breath Goodbye) [print this page]

Getting rid of smokers breath and cigarette smell coming from your mouth are issues many smokers are dealing with. Most cigarette smokers have made the experience that smoking leaves a smoker breath behind, not always the nicest thing if you are going into a business meeting, a blind date, or countless other situations. Lets be honest: the majority of people today are non-smokers, and many find the smoker breath offensive

So what to do ?

We scoured the internet for options how to get rid of the smoker breath, and found a number of options.

Smoker breath is caused by tar and nicotine which is very sticky and easily adheres to your gums, tongue and teeth. So the obvious solution is to either mask it or take off the tar/nicotine film.

We found the following solutions:

Chewing gum. The stronger the flavor, the better, but try to use sugar-free gums (they will be more effective, and your teeth will thank you).

Take a mint. If no mints are available, chew anise seeds, parsley or cloves

In case you forget to leave your parsley at home you can brush your teeth or use mouthwash (use alcohol-free mouthwash)

Forgot your to bring your toothbrush or mouthwash ? The next tip is much easier:

Snack on some food. The best choices are fruits and vegetables (so the crudit display at the party may help you here just dig in). You want to prefer citrus fruits (for their acidity gets rid of the smell a lot faster ) so go ahead and grab a lime or two from the bar and munch on it.

Avoid sticky food (this includes bread), both before and after smoking. Sticky foods will absorb the smoke smell and keep it right where you dont want it in your mouth !!

Another solution of course (and probably the healthiest one) would be to give up smoking altogher.

If you are not ready to quit, you may also consider smokefree cigarettes, also called electronic cigarettes. These e-cigarettes dont contain tobacco, so there is no tar and no odor, but they still give a very authentic smoking experience and they do contain nicotine.

E-cigarette starter kits can be purchased for as little as $30 to $60 and include everything to get you started. Modern e cigs are a 2-part system and consist of a rechargeable battery (frequently made to look like the white - tobacco - part of a cigarette) and disposable nicotine cartridges (usually resembling the filter of a real cigarette). The e-cigarette starter kit usually includes one or two rechargeable batteries, wall and USB charger, and an assortment of disposable nicotine cartridges.

E-cig cartridges usually contain a liquid made of water, propylene glycol, flavor and nicotine, and produce a water vapor when you draw on the e-cigarette, giving a very authentic sensation of smoking a real cigarette.

Since nothing is being burned there is no smoke and no odor, so you can "smoke" them in your house, in your office, at a party, and nobody will smell them. Needless to say, your mouth will not smell like tobacco either!

There are other benefits to electronic cigarettes as well. They are much less expensive than tobacco cigarettes (between $1.25 to $2 for the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes, depending on the brand). Since e-cigarettes don't burn tobacco you avoid many of the factors which are so dangerous in cigarettes: no tar, none of the harmful chemicals mixed into the tobacco, and they do not produce the dangerous chemicals produced during burning tobacco.

Virtually all e cigarette brands offer cartridges in different strengths, from "full flavor" (equivalent to regular strength cigarettes) to "light" cartridges, and in different flavors (from tobacco and menthol to chocolate, vanilla and even fruit flavors).

Many e-cigarette manufacturers also offer nicotine-free (or "0 nicotine") cartridges which could ostensibly help you to quit nicotine altogether while still enjoying the habit of puffing !

At current time, the FDA does not endorse the use of electronic cigarettes as a smoking cessation aid. Since e-cigarettes are a relatively new product and have gained wider acceptance only over the last few years, there are no comprehensive studies on their safety, no quality regulations or oversight. The FDA did find traces of nicotine in "nicotine free" cartridges of one or two brands.

Other organizations such as the American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP) have taken a very different approach; since e-cigarettes do not contain most of the most harmful and dangerous substances found in real tobacco smoke they consider them a minor evil. According to AAPHP, a cigarette smoker can reduce his or her risk of future tobacco-related death by 98% or better by switching to a low risk smokeless tobacco product. He or she could cut that risk by 100% or better by switching to a nicotine-only delivery product like one of the pharmaceutical products or E-cigarettes. Experience suggests that E-cigarettes may be more acceptable to smokers than the currently available pharmaceutical alternatives. A smoker can secure almost all the health benefits of quitting if he or she transitions to an E-cigarette"
