subject: New High Tech Concepts In Pool Safety [print this page]

Like it or not, the moment that the swimming pool in your yard is completed and filled with water, the danger factor for your home kicks up considerably due to the risk of drowning. Then blocking it out of your mind is the worst thing they can you can do because when do that you're less inclined to do something about it. So the best advice you can get, is to deal with the safety issues upfront by purchasing and installing a "complete security system".

Now for sure you already have a fence because that's required by law. Aside from being common sense. Now it's only been up to recent years though that a fence was considered perfectly adequate, even though they do have one weak spot. That is that they can be climbed over by someone who's determined enough to get past it. So a fence alone is no longer considered adequate, considering the level of technology that's available today. You see, you can do much better than that now.

This because today there's an ever-growing assortment of new and highly sophisticated electronic backyard and pool safety devices designed for the purpose of creating what's becoming known as the "multilayered system". A security system that begins on the outer perimeter, your fence, but that contains backup elements. Layers if you will, to deal with the eventuality of a child getting beyond your fence, and into your pool area.

Motion and body heat detection systems have been used for years now, so you may have already heard of them. Up to recently though, they were cumbersome to install, and inexpensive, so they were primarily used for the interiors of buildings or in entrance-ways. Today's newer systems however, have become more compact, and easier to install as they have also become more affordable to purchase. In fact the sensors themselves are now selling for as little as $20 each now.

These systems are also more feature laden which makes them the perfect tool for guarding your backyard when you can't be there. For instance they can now be programmed to automatically notify you by calling your telephone, or they can notify a security company, or they could set off an alarm in your yard. Or they could do all three at once. Plus because they're wireless they even work if your power is shut off.

So that covers the first and second layers of today's high-tech backyard security system. So what about the third layer? The third layer is comprised of a floating device that sits in the water. A device that functions to detect water ripples caused by someone entering the pool, and it can't be removed either because if someone tries to, that too will trigger it. Also just like the motion sensors, it to can be programmed to notify you or a security company.
