subject: Single Frugal Girls - Keep These Items in Your Stockpile for Sick Days [print this page]

After just coming off 8 days of being sick, I started to realize as a frugal single girl, there are certain things I need to keep on hand so I'm not forced to run out to the store when I'm feeling my worst. Not only do I not want to have to try to go shopping when I'm sick, I don't want to have to pay full price because I haven't planned my trip! I try to look for these items when they are on sale and I know I'm getting a good deal so I can stock up.

Here are three things I try to keep on hand at all time in case I do get sick. I don't keep a huge stockpile of these items but just enough to get by for a few days until I'm feeling better.

1. Your favorite soup - I know making soup from scratch is the best way to go, but when your not feeling well, sometimes soup from a can is about all you can handle. If you do make your own soup, you can freeze extra quantities to have on hand when your not feeling well.

2. Over the counter medicine - I'm not a huge fan of taking over the counter medications, but when I'm sick and want to feel better, I will take something in hopes I start feeling better. If you have a favorite over the counter medicine that you use, look for it when it's on sale and keep it on hand.

3. White soda or your favorite tea - My drink of choice when I'm sick is 7-Up. I drink it non-stop when I'm not feeling well. I also keep tea on hand in case I have a sore throat and need a hot drink. I generally buy 7-Up in a two liter bottle and buy the store brand tea bags. Whatever your favorite drink is, keep a small stash on hand, you will thank yourself when your not feeling well!

Having these items on hand when your sick will give you the break you need to be able to fully recover and get back to finding your favorite deals!
