subject: Beating The Crowds With Courier Deliveries To And From The Usa [print this page]

Despite being very similar culture wise, there are many differences between the UK and the USA. The two countries have been close allies for many decades but there are some things that can be a bit inconvenient or frustrating for people living on either side of the Atlantic. One of these things is the release dates for things like music, movies and games, for some reason despite both countries being very similar and sharing the same language it is often the case that some items get released in one country and not the other.

Its often the case that if they do come out in both countries that they will be months or even years apart, something that is quite strange considering most other products and even TV shows are now released in both countries near enough the same time so why are they taking so long to cross the Atlantic on some occasions?

The reasoning behind this is due to all of the legal and management activities that go on in the background. There are often record companies and publishers that need to liaise with their counterparts or partners in the other country to make sure all parties are happy or perhaps in the case of a band they may wish to hold back a release until they are available to tour and promote in that particular country.

Being a fan of any movies, music or games and not being able to get their latest releases as soon as possible, knowing someone over in another country is enjoying that particular release can be annoying. Luckily thanks to international delivery services and couriers many people are now able to buy these items overseas and have them delivered to them here in the UK. There are many benefits to this process like getting the latest films or music ahead of the crowd, but there are some downsides to consider as well.

Importing anything from overseas could have region coding related issues, movies on DVDs, Blu-Rays and even some video games can be made so they only work on machines from a specific country so its important to check before you spend extra money on these products from overseas. Some DVD players and the Sony Playstation 3 are region free so you can play any region games or movies as long as they are in the same language or you understand that particular language.

It is also worth bearing in mind that some items when they arrive in the UK can be subject to taxes and import duty, some people have been lucky and not had to pay this on certain items but you should assume you will have to pay as this is legally required. If the cost of importing is too much then you may want to wait for that item to be released formally here in this country. What it all boils down to is how big of a fan you are?
