Suzlon receives 23 MW order from GAIL (India) Limited

GAIL places its fourth order with Suzlon, to be commissioned in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu

GAILs total wind power capacity with Suzlon will exceed 67 MW

Pune: Suzlon Energy Limited, the worlds fifth largest* wind turbine supplier, has announced its fourth consecutive order from GAIL Asias number one and the worlds number two gas utility company, and one the Navratna public sector undertakings (PSU) of the Government of India. The order consists of 11 units of Suzlons S88 2.1 MW wind turbines, to be commissioned in the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka by the end of the financial year 201112.

This is GAILs fourth order with Suzlon, with first two projects located in Gujarat. The first 4.5 MW project, comprising Suzlons S82 1.5MW turbines, was commissioned in March 2010, and the second 14.7 MW project is currently under execution. A part of these projects is meant to fulfill GAILs captive power requirement, with the remainder for power sales to the respective local power distribution utilities. The sale of the power generated to the local power distribution utilities will be under the long term purchase power agreement (PPA) at the fixed preferential feedin tariff.
