You are gone now.
You are gone now.

My body still flush with

The thought of you.

My heart beating faster

With the memory of our love.

I recall how the Bible described it:

"A man shall leave his mother and father

And cleave to his wife.

And the two shall become one flesh."

Whatever it's meaning,

I think I always thought it was symbolic.

But as my mind drifts back to that

Time of holy togetherness,

Each of us pouring ourselves into one another,

The mystery reveals itself to be truly a miracle

For I cannot discern where I ended and you began.

Lying there overwhelmed with your nearness,

Your softness enveloping me, embracing me

Your chest pressed against my chest,

Was it your heart racing or mine?

Or had two hearts come to beat as one?

I have heard people describe the wonder

Of silk against their skin;

The feel of this or that fabric of some article of clothing:

"Heavenly" they would say.

But remembering the love we shared,

Your flesh adorning me as kingly robes,

Each part of youa part of me,

I know I have never worn a more exquisite garment.

Have never been adorned in finer raiment.

And I long to drape the beauty of you

Upon my thirsty flesh once more.

To drink from the cup of your love.

Until its intoxicating warmth

Fills every corner of this unworthy vessel.

Come to me again, my love.

Surround me and fill me,

And let us be as oneonce more.
