subject: Planning A Trip? Look Into These Tips! [print this page]

If you're planning a trip, you may be wrapped up in thinking about how much fun you have when you arrive. However, there are a lot of other things to think about to make sure that your trip is safe and goes well. Here's a list of things to think about when planning a trip.

If you are traveling by flight with your animal, and you had to check your pet in to cargo, stand at the gate window and look for your animal being boarded. Be the last to board the plane, and once all of the passengers have boarded, request the gate attendant to radio the baggage area to make sure your pet was loaded.

If you are bringing your baby along while you travel, stash your valuables in your child's diaper bag. A thief is less likely to steal this bag than your wallet or other luggage, so you stand a higher chance of making it out of an altercation with some money left.

Always store necessary OTC or prescription medications in your carry-on bag, especially if you have a long flight or multiple layovers. Even if your baggage is lost, you will still have access to the medications you need, and you will not have to deal with securing an emergency supply.

If you are traveling to a Third World country where toilet paper is scarce, try this tip to travel with toilet paper, but without the bulk. Before the trip, save toilet paper rolls when there are about five uses left. Then flatten the rolls and put in a zip-lock bag. Save several flattened rolls and add to your purse or satchel. They will not take up much space, and you will have toilet paper when you need it.

When you are traveling, neatly roll your clothes instead of folding them. By doing this, you will save the amount of space you use in your luggage. Once you reach your destination, you can unroll them and fold before placing into drawers if you wish. This should reduce the amount of baggage necessary for your trip.

Now that you know what to look out for when planning your trip, you can start thinking about the fun you'll have when you get there. The first step to having a great time on any trip is to plan right. Keep these tips in mind to make sure you don't forget anything!
